Spotlight is on... Glenn Hill!!! Col. Robert G Hill was born in Newgulf, Texas on 13 June 1944. He graduated from Lamar University in 1966 with a BS degree in Government. He also earned Master degrees in Management and Strategic Studies. Glenn was commissioned a Second Lt. in the US Marine Corps in May 1966. Following commissioning he reported to Quantico to attend The Basic School and later the Basic Communications Officer course. Following training he was deployed to Viet Nam. Upon returning stateside, he served in a variety of billets. In 1987 he served in Operation Earnest Will escorting Kuwait oil tankers, and in 1990 served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In 1992 Col. Hill was deployed to Somalia as Communications officer and Chief of Staff of Operation Restore Hope. In 1993 he was assigned to US Marine Corps Atlantic as Asst. Chief of Staff and later Chief of Staff. During his service, Col Hill has received the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with a gold star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V and gold star. In 1966 after 30 years of service Col Hill retired from the Marine Corps and took the position of Support Activities Director for the Marine Military Academy, He later assumed the duties of Chief of Staff and eventually Superintendent. Col Hill serves on the Boy Scouts Exec Board, Loaves & Fishes Advisory Board, and the VBMS Board. He is a past president of the Harlingen Rotary Club and President of the Rotary Endowment Fund. Glenn is married to the former Hattie Jo Oakes (Jodi) his love of 52 wonderful years. They have 2 children, Stacey Ann and Daren Glenn. Jodi is a saint. |
