Spotlight is on... Amy Lynch A member of the Rotary Club of Harlingen since 2012, Amy Lynch has been a resident of Harlingen for 19 years. She and her two older sisters were born and raised in Willacy county, living in Raymondville and attending school at Lyford CISD, by her parents, both educators, David and Deborah Davila. Amy and her husband Matt Lynch have two daughters, Liana, 16, and Kayleigh 10. The couple met while they were both reporters for the Valley Morning Star, her first job after college. Always interested in writing and communications, she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in communication from The University of Texas-Pan American in 2004 and received a Master's degree in Strategic Communication from Purdue University in 2017. Amy has also worked as Assistant Director for News and Information for The University of Texas at Brownsville until 2011 and was recently a Development Officer at Texas State Technical College. However, she is moving into a new role in her first passion, communications, with Alacris, a Blockchain technology development company, as Head of Communications. Two of Amy's top values are service and hardwork, which is what drew her to Rotary. During her time as a reporter, her former boss, Charlene Vandini, brought her to a meeting. Something her boss did with all new reporters. Amy was impressed by the commitment the organization had for their community and knew that when she could, she would join Rotary. It was not for another 6 years that she was able to fulfill that promise. These same values also influence her other pursuits. She loves being a student and teach of yoga and is currently training to be more competitive in CrossFit. Besides working out and spending time at home with her family, that also includes two dogs, Grover and Clyde, and three cats, Heidi, Oswald and Lucas; Amy also loves to watch documentaries, junk television and cheering for the Portland Trailblazers. |
