Spotlight is on... Bob Salmeron Bob was born in Chicago, Il and called it home until he joined the Army in 1958. Most of his military duty was stationed in Europe. In 1960 while serving in Germany he and Roslyn married in Regensburg, Bavaria Germany. In 1962 after military service he was employed as an insurance agent with Western-Southern Life. He later became a Lance Associate Manager, traveling for the company from Chicago, East Coast, Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. In January 1969 he accepted the District Office in Harlingen, TX which covered the entire Valley. After 15 1/2 years Bob & Roslyn decided to start their own Agency with Farmers Insurance Group. In 2003 and with 28 years with Farmers (43 1/2 in the insurance business) both retired. Bob has been involved in the community with the Harlingen Community Concerts (1969-2018) and recently had a name changed to Harlingen Concert Association, Harlingen Chamber of Commerce Board Member & HCC, Red Coat Ambassadors, member of the Rotary Club of Harlingen Member (1984), City of Harlingen, Senior Citizens Advisory Board (2016-2119). Former Presidences of Rotary Club of Harlingen (2002-2003), Valley Assocation of Life Underwriters (1982-1983, Vera C. Nauman Family Emergency Assistance (1988-89), Mexican Chamber of Commerce (1980-1981). For 4 yrs (2002 -2006 ) Bob provided Coaching on Table Tennis at St Paul Lutheran School. He also provided Coaching on Table Tennis for 5 yrs (2007-20012) at San Benito Consolidated Independent School District after School Programs. Coach Salmeron has been Invited to the Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado 4 times (1999, 2006, 2009, 2010) on sharpening and improving his coaching abilities. He is a USATT (United States of American Table Tennis) & ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) Certified Coaches. Salmeron's have three young adults, Michelle Renee, Robert Arthur & Monica Yvette and three grandchildren who they are all proud of. Bob has been a member of St Paul Lutheran Church since (1969) and Bob has held several positions within the church. Bob & Ros love to travel and in Rotary alone they have attended (1) one International District Conference in Australia, (5) International Conventions plus visiting many European cities, and many in between in the United States. |
