As we enter Thanksgiving week, our club pauses to appreciate the spirit of service that defines Rotary. This season reminds us why our work matters, the commitment to community, the fellowship that keeps us connected, and the shared purpose that drives everything we do. Thank you for the time, talent, and heart you bring to our club and to those we serve. May your holiday be filled with good company, gratitude, and a well earned break. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
Last Friday the 21st, our members heard the presentation of our club’s three-year vision that will guide our service, membership, and community impact through 2028. Rotarians who took part in the July workshop presented the priorities we defined and the direction we committed to as a club. The session showed how the ideas shaped in that workshop have become a practical roadmap for the years ahead. We now have clear goals, a path forward, and a shared commitment to move with purpose. This presentation marked an important step in carrying that work into the future.

Rotary Club of Harlingen: A Thanksgiving to Remember! 🦃❤️
Today was a beautiful reminder of what true compassion looks like. Volunteers of all ages joined together as one community to create 200 Thanksgiving bags filled with food, love, and hope for families in need this holiday season.
This incredible effort was made possible thanks to the hard work, generosity, and big hearts of our amazing partners: United Way NCC, Rotary Club of Harlingen, Hi-Tech Embroidery, Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District, and Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas.
A special thank you to Capital Towing LLC for donating 200 turkeys, helping us complete these meals!
We’re proud to share that 66 of these meals were sponsored by Rotarians and community members through the Rotary Club of Harlingen in support of the Harlingen Hunger Coalition.
These bags aren’t just meals, they are reminders that no one from our community faces hardship alone. Every donated item, every hour spent packing, and every smile shared made a difference.
Together, we showed what “Service Above Self” truly means. 💛

Under the direction of Rotarian, Jennifer Allen, our Shrimp Fest Commissioner, we held the draft for our 30th Annual Shrimp Fest. Captains stepped up, made their picks, and locked in the teams that will power this milestone year. The room had the energy of a real draft, a mix of strategy, friendly competition, and plenty of confidence. With rosters now set, every crew is geared up to push this anniversary Shrimp Fest to a new level. The countdown to thirty years of tradition and standout community support is officially on!
This month brought strong momentum for our club. We heard the presentation of our three-year vision, a clear roadmap that sets our goals and direction through 2028.
The energy continued with the draft for our 30th Annual Shrimp Fest, where captains built out their teams and set the tone for a standout anniversary year.
We also lived out “Service Above Self” in a powerful way - joining together with community partners to prepare 200 Thanksgiving meal bags for families in need. Every turkey, every donated item, and every hour spent packing reminded us what compassion looks like.
Looking ahead, we will jingle and mingle at our Christmas Social on Thursday, December 4 at 5:30 PM at 83 Winery. Our next regular meeting will be December 12, when Mike Mezmar will share the story behind Santa.
As we head into the holiday week, warm Thanksgiving wishes to you and your families. May the season bring rest, gratitude, and good company.
