Hello, my fellow Rotarians! This is your President, Juju Stringfield!
Please join us for our weekly meeting this Friday, July 14, as Javier DeLeon, President / CEO of the Harlingen Greater Chamber of Commerce will be our guest speaker. With his experience in Community Development and Education, this promises to be a fantastic meeting.
More about our guest speaker: Javier De Leon is a native and a product of Harlingen CISD. Javier is currently employed as the President/CEO of the Harlingen Greater Chamber of Commerce. Javier is also currently serving as the President/Chairman of the EDC Board of Directors as well as the Chairman Commissioner of the Cameron County Civil Service. Before being employed by the Chamber, he served as the Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at Texas State Technical College for over 33 years.
His work in public administration and experience is why his biography was accepted for publication in the Chancellor’s list at UT-Pan American. Only 1% of the students from the nation’s 3,000 colleges and universities are honored this way each year. Some of the other boards he served on consisted of the HCISD School Board for over 18 years, Rio Grande Valley Partnership Board, Rio Grande Vision Board, Rio Grande State Center Board, and the Harlingen Planning and Zoning Appeals Board. He and his wife, Rose Marie – an educator of the Harlingen CISD, have two children, Stephanie, and Monica, who are Harlingen CISD alumni.
