Tim Smith, KRGV Channel 5's chief meteorologist was our guest speaker at our regular meeting.
Tim, a fellow Rotarian, presented an overview of our season's hurricane and storm tracks as well as
displayed the damages caused by Hurricane Hannah. He also gave us tips about how to prepare and
safeguard our home when hurricane threats exist.
Tim has been an advocate for community involvement for many years! The Annual Toy
Drive, Tim's Coats, and the Summer Fan Distribution are amongst his many community efforts.
The toy drive promotes public donations so that the toys can be distributed to children in hospitals.
Tim's Coats has been in existence for approximately 37 years. Winter coats are collected, dry cleaned and
distributed to those who are in need of coats during wintertime. Summer fans are given out during our
hot summer months at the KRGV studio.
