When some loud braggart tries to put me down and say his school is great, I tell him right away, "What's the matter buddy, ain't you heard of my school, it's number one in the state..."
The week of our annual Coaches Forum is here! This is a great event and we are so grateful to have Marine Military Academy, Harlingen South, and Harlingen High all participating. MMA Athletic Director Bobby Lucio, Harlingen South Head Coach Israel Gonzalez, and Harlingen High Head Coach Manny Gomez will give updates on the upcoming season and the successes and challenges they, and they kids, face. Thanks to these gentlemen for speaking and for helping the student athletes in our community.
Be sure to proudly represent your school as we will have a contest for the most spirited Rotarian. As a non-partisan, apolitical organization we do not take sides, but anything in OU colors will be disqualified. It is always a fun meeting and we look forward to seeing you there. There will be a drumline, cheerleaders, and a festive environment to welcome us all to the event (thanks Shane and Kristen!).
The Forum will start early with doors opening at 11AM and the event starting at 11:30. This will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel Lobby and a catered meal will be available to purchase for $15. As Coach Mack Brown would say, "Come Early. Be Loud. Wear Orange. Stay Late." Feel free to change the colors to your school of choice with exception to the previously mentioned colors of that school in Norman.
It was a great event and turnout for our first Happy Hour Social of the year held at Station 1 on Thursday of last week. Thanks to all who joined and we hope you had a great time. This month we will be at the 83 Winery on the last Thursday of the month.
Also, of MASSIVE importance...... nobody won the drawing. Buy your tickets, support the Club, and good luck!
Rah, rah, sis, boom, bah!
