🏆 ROTARY CLUB OF HARLINGEN MEMBERS RECOGNIZED AT DISTRICT 5930 LEADERSHIP INSTALLATION 🏆
Members of the Rotary Club of Harlingen attended the Rotary District 5930 Club Presidents and District Leadership Installation Luncheon, joining other fellow Rotarians from throughout the district to celebrate incoming leadership and recognize District Governor Elaine Hernandez for her dedicated service during the 2025-26 Rotary year. 👏💙
The club is especially proud to have several members serving in district leadership roles during the 2026-27 Rotary year under District Governor Jack Alspaugh:
🔹 PDG Eddie Bartnesky – Foundation Committee Chair and member of the District Advisory Committee
🔹 Kathy Preddy – District Learning Committee Chair
🔹 Lucy Cadenas – End Polio Now Chair and Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Lower Rio Grande Valley
🔹 Victor Rivera – District Secretary and Assistant Governor for Area 8, serving the Rotary Clubs of Harlingen, Harlingen Sunburst, North Harlingen, and San Benito
🥇 The Rotary Club of Harlingen was also honored with the District 5930 Membership Olympics Gold Trophy for the second consecutive year. Harlingen shared this distinction with the Rotary Club of Brownsville Sunrise, reflecting both clubs' commitment to membership growth, engagement, and the continued expansion of Rotary's impact throughout the Rio Grande Valley. 🎉
🎤 Attendees also heard an inspiring presentation from fellow Rotarian Dr. Benjamin Clinton, whose remarks focused on creating a lasting impact through service, leadership, and commitment to community. His message served as a powerful reminder of Rotary's enduring motto, Service Above Self. ⚙️💙
🌟 Incoming Club President Belinda Zapata was unable to attend the luncheon but will lead the Rotary Club of Harlingen during the 2026-27 Rotary year. The club looks forward to supporting her leadership and continuing its tradition of service to the Harlingen community and beyond.

Last Friday, the Rotary Club of Harlingen was honored to welcome fellow Rotarian Jennifer Allen, Executive Director of United Way of Northern Cameron County, as our featured speaker.
Jennifer shared an inspiring overview of the important work being done by United Way to strengthen our communities across Northern Cameron and Willacy Counties. Her passion for bringing people together to address local challenges and improve the lives of children and families was evident throughout her presentation.
Members learned more about United Way's mission, its collaborative approach to connecting resources where they are needed most, and several impactful initiatives, including Women United, the ALICE framework, and Build-A-Bed, a hands-on project dedicated to ensuring that every child has a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

A graduate of UT Austin and UTB/TSC, she has served our community as a career counselor, school counselor, and psychotherapist, and has maintained a successful private practice since 2004. 🧠💙
Known for her compassionate approach and commitment to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, Marianela brings both professional expertise and practical insights that are relevant to all of us. 🤝✨
