"I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught." - Winston Churchill
Hello Harlingen Rotary!  I hope you are all having a great week.  Let's give a shoutout to Shane and Kristin on a great program last week presented by Homeland Security.  Thanks to Special Agent Garza for informing the Club about their needed work.  We will have him back for another meeting to continue discussing their role in fighting cybercrime and protecting our children.
This week we have Dr. Jessica Hruska, a Blended Learning Specialist with Harlingen CISD to present on her role and some of the advancements in learning that are happening in Harlingen.
Please join us this Saturday morning at 8:30 AM for our Trash Pick-up on Loop 499.  We will be meeting at 8:30 and should have a great group with us to make it a quick event to beautify our great city of Harlingen.  We will meet at the usual parking lot at TSTC.  Call me if you get lost.
Also, our drive to support the Harlingen Humane Society is ongoing.  Any contributions of dog and cat food, or monetary donations would be appreciated!  We will go as a group on Friday, September 23rd (after our meeting) to give our donations.  Please bring your items to the next two meetings so we can take them on the 23rd or contact Sumer Knight (512) 808-3776 to make arrangements.

Also, in a travesty of justice for last week's winning ticket holder,..... nobody has won the drawing.
Homeland Security Investigations
Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations, Jesse R. Garza, was our guest presenter this week. He talked to us about the dangers of the internet geared towards children and how to protect and prevent them. If you witness suspicious activity, you can contact CyberTipline.org #RotaryClubOfHarlingen #projectguardian #PeopleOfAction #ServiceAboveSelf
Coaches' Forum
Last week was our annual Coaches' Forum and we were lucky to have Coaches Manny Gomez, Israel Gonzalez, and Bobby Lucio speaking on behalf of Harlingen High, Harlingen South, and Marine Military Academy.  A huge thanks to the cheer squads from each school, the Vela Middle School drumline, MC Eladio Jaimez, and, especially, Kristen Luckey, Shane Strubhart, and Charlie Abrego for putting on such a great event.  We heard about what to expect from the the schools this year, as well as how the coaches approach their roles.  Thanks to all who attended and participated!
