📣 Women in Rotary Forum Recap, Friday, March 6

On Friday, March 6, our club gathered at Golden Palms for an inspiring Women in Rotary Forum. The event celebrated the impact of women in Rotary and the importance of building a more inclusive organization. 🌎🤝

The discussion was moderated by Lt. Governor and Past President, Lucy Cadenas, with an outstanding panel that included past presidents Kathy Preddy, John Topp, and Jo Liston, along with special guest Past District Governor Dr. Zehra Surani. 🎤

Together, they reflected on Rotary’s journey, from the historic milestone in 1989 when women were first admitted into Rotary, to the powerful leadership and service women provide across the organization today. The conversation highlighted the past, present, and future of women in Rotary, emphasizing mentorship, leadership, and opportunity. ✨

The forum also underscored a key truth, Rotary is strongest when it is inclusive. By welcoming diverse voices and empowering more women to lead and serve, Rotary continues to strengthen its mission of Service Above Self and its impact in our communities. 💙

Join us this Friday, March 13 at 12:00 pm at Golden Palms as we welcome McKenzie Curl, MPH, who will present on Community Health Paramedicine. 🚑

McKenzie is a public health professional with experience in epidemiology, community health, and emergency medical services. She currently serves as a Project Coordinator for the Community Health Paramedicine program with the South Texas Emergency Care Foundation, where she works to improve patient outcomes, reduce unnecessary emergency service use, and connect residents with proactive, community-based care.

Her background includes work in COVID-19 response and epidemiology with Cameron County Public Health, as well as research with UTHealth, where she co-authored a published research article.

Come learn how innovative healthcare programs like Community Health Paramedicine are helping address real community needs and improving access to care right here in our region. 🌎

As we continue moving through an exciting season of service and leadership, this past week’s Women in Rotary Forum reminded us what makes Rotary so impactful. The conversation highlighted how far Rotary has come since women were first welcomed into the organization and how their leadership continues to strengthen our clubs and communities today.

We were grateful to hear thoughtful perspectives from our moderator, Lucy Cadenas, and panelists Kathy Preddy, John Topp, Jo Liston, and Dr. Zehra Surani. Their reflections on the past, present, and future of women in Rotary underscored an important message, when Rotary embraces diverse voices and inclusive leadership, our ability to serve and create lasting impact only grows stronger.

Looking ahead to this Friday, March 13, we will continue focusing on community impact as we welcome McKenzie Curl, MPH, who will speak about Community Health Paramedicine and the innovative work being done locally to improve access to care and support healthier communities across our region.

As we move forward together, I remain proud to serve alongside each of you. Let’s continue building momentum, supporting one another, and leading with purpose as we carry Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self across the Valley and beyond. ✨🤝
