Hello, my fellow Rotarians! This is your President, Juju Stringfield!
Please join us for our weekly meeting this Friday, July 28, as Ms. Marianela Caballero, will be our guest speaker. Ms. Caballero, an LPC, will be touching on peace and mental wellbeing as part of our international theme for the year: Create Hope in the World. This promises to be a fantastic meeting!
More about our guest speaker:
Marianela graduated from UT Austin in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and continued her higher education at UTB/TSC. She graduated in 2000 with a Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Guidance in Counseling and in 2004 received her License in Professional Counseling in the state of Texas.
She has worked as a career counselor at UTB/TSC, a counselor for the community at Catholic Charities and was a school counselor for 8 years at the Diocese of Brownsville for grades Pre-K to 8th grade while she established her private practice.
She has been in private practice for 16 years and currently works with individuals 12 years old and older. She uses an eclectic approach to therapy depending on her clients’ needs; however, she believes Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy tend to be the more effective approaches. Though she works with a variety of populations, she specializes in tweens, adolescents and women’s issues. She enjoys helping parents and children bridge communication and enhance their relationships to better manage conflicts. She considers herself a true advocate to help eliminate the stigma of living with mental illness.
During her free time Marianela enjoys spending time with her two sons who keep a busy schedule with chess tournaments and running events. She enjoys working out at OrangeTheory, reading and socializing with friends and family.
