This past weekend, members of the Rotary Club of Harlingen had an incredible time at the Unite for Good District Conference 2026 in McAllen
It was great to connect with fellow Rotarians from across District 5930, share ideas, and be reminded of the impact we can make when we work together
From celebrating at the Paul Harris Fellow Dinner to hearing inspiring speakers and watching amazing youth presentations , every moment reinforced what Rotary is all about, service, leadership, and community.
More than anything, weβre coming back energized, inspired, and ready to keep
making a difference right here at home
Proud to represent Harlingen and be part of something bigger. Letβs keep uniting for good
We had the pleasure of welcoming our recent guest speaker, Tim Smith, Chief Meteorologist at KRGV Channel 5 News π¦οΈon Friday, April 24.
A familiar and trusted voice across the Rio Grande Valley for decades, Tim shared insights drawn from years of guiding our community through major weather events with clarity and care. His perspective was a powerful reminder of just how closely our environment and daily lives are connected.
Fittingly aligned with Rotary Environmental Month π, his message on weather, preparedness, and environmental awareness truly resonated. Beyond the newsroom, Timβs dedication as a fellow Rotarian and his commitment to service continue to make a meaningful impact across our communities π€
It was an engaging, insightful, and memorable conversationβone that left us all a little more informed and inspired!
This Friday, weβre excited to welcome our Interact Club students as they present their Year-End Reports!
Part of Rotary International, Interact Clubs are student-led groups that build leadership through hands-on service and community impact. Throughout the year, these young leaders have organized projects, served others, and made a real difference.
Join us as they share highlights from their work!

In celebration of Earth Day π, the Rotary Club of Harlingen hosted a Battery Recycling Drive at the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce to promote environmental awareness and responsible disposal.
We are grateful to the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce for hosting us and supporting this important initiative for our community.
While the volume collected was modest, the impact reached far beyond the numbers. With 11 Rotarians, 1 Interactor, and 34 service hours, this effort sparked meaningful conversations about sustainability and highlighted strong potential for growth in future projects.
Held on April 22 as part of Rotaryβs Environment Month, the drive offered a convenient drive-thru drop-off, making it easy for community members to safely dispose of used batteries and rechargeable devices. In partnership with ESRAG and Redwood Materials, this initiative reflects a practical step toward keeping hazardous waste out of our environment.
Thank you to all who participated and made this effort possible: Dillon Dawi, Enzo Racca, Jennifer Allen, Kathy Preddy, Linda Cuellar, Lucy Cadenas, Luke Lucio, Roel Rodriguez, Roxie Shimotsu, Sawyer Moore (MMA Cadet), Victor Rivera, and Yolanda Brydone.
Every effort counts, and this is just the beginning of building greater awareness and impact in our community β»οΈ
